Padang State University became a sister university of Korean Center Global Network



On June 4, 2024, Korean Center Global Network signed an agreement with Padang State University in Padang, Sumatra, Indonesia to establish and operate the Korea Center UNP. Following the signing of this agreement, both parties will open the Korean Center at the UNP as soon as possible. UNP will provide facilities for the Korean Center, and the Korean Center will offer a variety of cultural, educational, and other programs related to Korea, including Korean language courses.  As the Korean Center will be opened at the largest university in Sumatra Island, it is expected to be an active activity for the development of exchanges between Korea and Indonesia.

Universitas Negeri Padang, UNP is one of the oldest universities in Indonesia. It was first founded as a teacher training college (Perguruan Tinggi Pendidikan Guru) in Batusangkar, West Sumatera Indonesia on 23 October 1954. Then it became the institute of Education and Teacher Training (IKIP Padang). In 1999, the status of university was accorded, with a wider mandate to run non-educational study programs as well.

In the course of its development, UNP has consistently focused its core mission on education while also producing professionals for other fields,. Externally, UNP seeks to extend cooperation and networks with related parties at local, regional, national, and international levels.
